1. 개요
왕도마뱀의 일종.2. 특징
호주 북부의 고유종이며 목에는 주황색과 노란색 줄무늬가 있고 등에는 어두운 반점이 있다. 몸길이는 70cm 정도며 육상, 수생 동물 상관없이 먹을 수 있는 작은 동물이면 잡아먹는다. 건기인 4~6월이 번식 시기며 한 번에 3~11개의 알을 낳는다.[1] 사탕수수두꺼비라는 외래종과 서식지 파괴로 심각한 멸종 위기에 처한 종이다. 애완용으로 기르기도 하지만 종 자체가 심각한 멸종 위기종이고 성질이 사나워서 사육 사례는 드물다. 사육 상태에서 번식은 쉬운 편이지만 제법 크게 자라는 도마뱀이므로 사육 환경은 넓어야 한다.[2][1] Gaikhorst, Glen; McLaughlin, James; Larkin, Brian; McPharlin, Meagan (18 May 2009).
