漠沙島
평안북도 의주군 서호리에 있는 섬이다. 근처에 어적도가 위치하고 있다. 막사도는 물길변화와 퇴적작용에 의하여 형성된 하중도이다. 하중도다 보니 모래가 넓게 펼쳐저 있어 막사도라는 지명이 조선시대부터 붙었다.

뉴스에서 압록강이 범람하여 피해를 받았다고 한다. 압록강 수풍호 수풍댐이 범람하면 자주 침수되는 곳이기도 하다. 또한 병자호란 때 후금군이 병력을 집중시켰던 곳도 여기이다.
