해당 곡이 수록된 앨범인 MBDTF에서는 이 노래의 간주곡(interlude)이 앞 트랙으로 있다. 노래의 길이는 본 노래로만은 5분, 간주를 포함하면 6분이다. 긴 노래 길이와 수 많은 피쳐링진이 함께 했음에도 불구하고 조화롭고 지루하지 않게 곡 진행이 되며 평단은 이 노래를 오페라에 비견하며 특유의 웅장함을 극찬했다.My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy에서 가장 많은 피쳐링진을 가지고 있으나(Feat. Rihanna, Kid Cudi, Tony Williams, The-Dream, Charlie Wilson, John Legend, Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, Elton John, Fergie, Ryan Leslie, Alvin Fields, Ken Lewis and Drake), 앨범에는 피쳐링이 적혀있지 않다. 뮤직비디오에도 리아나와 키드 커디만 피쳐링진으로 올라가있을 뿐, 다른 피쳐링진은 적혀있지 않다.
리아나의 인터뷰에 따르면, 카녜 웨스트는 리아나에게 My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy트랙들을 발매하기 3개월 전에 이미 들려줬으며, "All of the Lights"가 가장 마음에 드는 트랙이라고 이야기 했다 한다. 그 때문에 이후 스튜디오로 작업하러 오라고 했을 때 이미 그녀는 이 노래를 작업할 것임을 알고 있었다고.
이후 2012년 열린 54회 그래미 어워드에서 Best Rap Song 부문과 Best Rap/Sung Collaboration 부문에서 수상하면서 2관왕을 달성하기도 한다.
해당 곡이 나오기 5년 전, 마이클 잭슨이 살아있던 시절 노래인 "Gold Digger"에서 칸예는 마이클 잭슨을 디스했는데,[3] 마이클 잭슨 사망 이후인 이 노래에서는 'MJ gone, our nigga dead!'라는 가사로 마이클 잭슨을 추모했다.

april fools got you라는 만우절 관련 밈 영상에 이 노래가 쓰였다.[1] 뮤직비디오 및 공식 오디오 영상 합산.[2] 영상이 시작하기 앞서 광과민성 증후군 환자들이 시청할 시 발작 위험이 있음을 알리는 경고 문구를 띄운다.반짝반짝 영상은 가스파 노에 감독의 2009년 영화 엔터 더 보이드에서 영향을 받았다고 한다. 또한 뮤비에서는 퍼기의 랩 부분을 트럼펫 연주로 대체한다.[3] '니 전 아내는 돈을 들고 마이클 잭슨처럼 돌아다니지!'라는 가사가 있다. 다만 Gold Digger의 가사는 대필이다. 칸예가 가장 존경하는 아티스트로 마잭을 꼽을 만큼 디스할 이유가 전혀 없던 것.[4] 미국의 서점 체인. 현재는 파산했다.
