1. 개요
2025년 2월 Ye의 폭주 사건 당시 발매를 예정하였던 앨범.1.1. 발매 전 정보
- 2025년 2월, 칸예가 일으킨 X 안에서의 일들 이후, 그 달에 칸예는 데이브 블런츠를 만나 이 앨범 작업을 시작하게 된다.
- 3월 6일 칸예가 다가올 음악이 반유대주의 사운드를 가질 거라고 했다. 당시엔 이 앨범 존재를 알리지 않았기 때문에 사람들은 당시 예고됐던 새 앨범 BULLY의 얘기일거라 추측했다.
- 3월 16일 빨간 나치 문양이 검은색 배경에 덮여있는 앨범 커버를 새 앨범 커버라 트윗했다. 역시나 당시엔 이 앨범 존재를 사람들이 몰랐기 때문에 BULLY의 앨범 커버가 변경된 것으로 인식했다. 또한 WORLD WAR 3라는 곡을 공개했다.
- 3월 25일 15일 공개됐던 WORLD WAR 3가 모든 음원 사이트에 처음으로 Kanye West가 아닌 Ye 명의로 WW3란 제목으로 공개되었다.
- 4월 3일 DJ 아카데믹스가 다음날 발매된다는 언급 이후 칸예 본인이 직접 X에 트랙리스트를 업로드했으며[1], 발매한다고 한 4월 4일 새벽 더 게임이 앨범 커버를 공개했다.
- 4월 4일 칸예가 X에 공개됐던 앨범 커버를 재차 올림으로써 앨범 커버 사진이 확정됐다.[2] 다만 해당 사진은 원본 사진이 있으며 칸예가 허락없이 사용했다고 원본 사진의 주인이 밝혔다. 원본 사진의 강아지 부분만 빼고 썼다.
- 4월 4일 수록곡 Bianca의 저작권이 인식되고 있으며 일요일 안에 발매된다고 한다. 하지만 발매되지 않았다.
- 4월 5일 디지털 나스가 앨범이 준비되었다며 칸예와 도쿄에서 도쿄 시간 기준[3] 4월 6일 오후 9시에서 11시 사이 WW3 라이브 스트리밍을 할 것이라고 한다.
- 10시경 디지털 나스의 트위치에서 스트리밍을 시작했다. 칸예가 수록곡으로 추정되는 곡을 즉석으로 녹음 중이다. 그러다 40분 좀 지난 시점에 칸예가 부르던 히틀러, 나치 거리는 가사 때문인지 디지털 나스의 계정이 정지를 먹으며 스트림이 중단되었다. 디지털 나스는 본인의 X로 아니 왜 날 벤한거야?라는 반응을 보이는 중.
- 디지털 나스가 이후 X에서 Kick(플랫폼)에서의 4월 7일 10시경 재스트리밍을 예고했다. 그러면서 디지털 나스는 Kick은 자신들을 밴하지 않을 것이라며 "Fuck Twitch"를 시전했다. 이후 디지털 나스가 트위치가 자신들의 계정을 정지 해제해주었다며 이번엔 "Fuck Kick"을 시전하고 오전 11시 30분경 잠시후 스트리밍을 예고했지만 진행되지 않았다. 디지털 나스가 밝히기로는 칸예가 잠에 들어버리는 바람에 스트리밍을 진행하지 않았다고 한다.
- 이후 다음날인 4월 8일 2번째 스트리밍을 진행했으며, 칸예는 프랭크 오션과 이 앨범 등등에 대해서 말하고 디지털 나스는 이 앨범을 작업 하는 모습을 보여주었다. 그런데 스트리밍의 떨어지는 화질을 지적하는 채팅이 계속 올라오며 디지털 나스가 ”우리의 세팅은 맥북 하나 뿐이다“라며 화질이 안 좋은 것에 대해 이해해달라 부탁하자, 곧바로 칸예가 ”화질이 그렇게 맘에 안 드냐? 이것들아“라며 맥북을 닫아버리며 스트리밍이 그대로 종료되었다. 해당 영상 18분 50초 경
- 그리고 다음 날인 4월 9일에도 스트리밍을 진행했으며 도쿄 사무실도 보여주고 사무실 안에 설치한 드롬 모형도 보여주었으며 앨범 수록곡으로 추정되는 비트에 프리스타일을 뱉는 모습도 보여주고 하다 갑자기 스트리밍이 종료되었다. 이후로도 계속해서 칸예는 여러 인터넷 방송에 출연하며 이 앨범의 작업하는 모습을 보여주었다.
- 다음날인 4월 10일엔 WW3가 마무리 단계 작업 중이라고 한다.
- 4월 12일, 데이브 블런츠가 WW3가 곧 발매된다고 알렸다.
- 4월 22일 자기가 나치가 아님을 밝혀 앨범이 캔슬되는가 하였으나 같은 날 본인이 어릴 때 부모님의 옷장에 숨겨진 성인잡지를 보며 남자 사촌과 구강성교를 했다는[4][5] 또 다른 충격적인 사실을 밝히며 앨범 제목이 "CUCK"으로 변경되었음을 공지했다#. 동시에 앨범 커버 트윗도 삭제해서 앨범 커버가 변경될 가능성이 있어 보인다. 새로운 곡 COUSINS도 같이 공개되었다. 일부러 뭉개놓은 음성과 의미를 알 수 없는 저화질의 비디오를[6] 나열하다 건물에서 추락하는 사람의 애니메이션으로 끝맺어 음산한 기운을 풍긴다. - 4월 24일, 22일 공개됐던 COUSINS가 발매되었다. 앞서 공개된 싱글 WW3와 마찬가지로 Ye 명의로 업로드되었다. 또한 앨범 제목이 반응이 안 좋은 걸 아는지 WW3와 CUCK 중 뭐가 낫냐라는 트윗을 올렸다.
- 4월 28일 CUCK이 로딩 중이라며 새로운 트랙리스트를 공개했다. 트랙 순서 구성과 제목들이 변경되었다.
- 4월 한 스트리밍 방송에서 칸예가 밝히기로는 5월 31일 예정된 내한 공연에서 이 앨범의 수록곡인 HEIL HITLER를 선보일려 했던 것으로 보이는데 해당 곡 퍼포먼스를 금지당했다고 한다. 근데 X 게시물에선 그래도 한다고 말했지만 공연이 취소되며 적어도 한국에선 논란을 일으키지 않게 됐다.
