업데이트 분량도 대규모이고, 이전의 모습에서 환골탈태해서인지 토탈 워: 파라오 왕조라는 이름으로 상점과 클라이언트에서 토탈 워: 파라오와는 별개의 게임으로 분류되었다.[1]

2024년 5월 2일, 토탈 워: 파라오 차기 업데이트 소개문이 올라왔다. #

토탈 워 사가: 트로이 병종 70개 이상을 재작업해 토탈 워: 파라오에 추가

확장된 캠페인맵은 기존(181개 정착지)보다 168개 정착지가 늘어난 349개 규모다. 팩션 수 역시 기존 95개에서 189개로 2배 가까이 늘어났다. 단 늘어난 팩션은 조정될 수 있다고 밝혔다.

3. 게임 세부 정보

3.1. 추가된 옵션 및 변경점

3.1.1. 왕조 시스템

기존 역탈워에 존재했던 가계도 시스템을 도입하여 결혼, 이혼 등이 가능해지며 지도자들은 전투, 암살, 노화로 인한 사망이 가능하고 후계자를 그 다음 지도자를 계승하게 된다.

또한 캐릭터들은 나이를 먹을수록 모델링 머리카락이 회색으로 변해가는 등의 노화 징후를 보인다. 기본설정은 3턴에 1년이나 캠페인 설정으로 12턴에 1년이 흐르도록 할 수 있어 캐릭터들이 늙어죽는 속도는 삼탈워보다 상당히 늦출 수 있다.

지배 가문 창에서 캐릭터들에게 결혼 주선을 할 수 있는데 주인공도 늙어죽는 만큼 미리미리 최대한 젊을 때 결혼해서 자식을 낳아주는 것이 좋고 매 턴 결혼 가능한 와이프 후보가 바뀌므로 후보들이 별로라면 나중에 할 수도 있다. 또한 플레이어 가문의 남자나 여자 인물로 다른 진영 가문의 파트너를 찾아서 결혼시킬 수도 있다. 하지만 다른 진영의 능력치 좋은 파트너와의 결혼은 돈을 잔뜩 주거나 땅을 떼주거나 우호도가 꽤 있는 상황에서만 가능하다. 돈이 많이 들어 초반엔 힘들고 중후반은 되어야 가능하다.

3.1.2. 외교

왕조에 가입하면 플레이어는 직접 최고 지도자가 되지 않고도 왕조 내에서 지원 세력으로 참여할 수 있다. 또한, 플레이어가 최고 통치자 자리에 오르면 다른 세력과 함께 왕조를 확장할 수 있다.

모든 파벌은 외교 결혼을 이용할 수 있으며, 이를 통해 캐릭터를 파벌의 배우자로 주거나 요청할 수 있다. 그러나 왕조의 일원이 되면 정치적 결혼을 이용할 수 있으며, 두 캐릭터 모두 타우스레트, 세티와 비슷하게 각자의 파벌에 남을 수 있다. 이러한 옵션을 전략적으로 사용하고 캐릭터에 가장 적합한 사람을 찾으면 외교에서 상당한 우위를 점하는 동시에 가족을 인구로 유지할 수 있다.

정당성 지원은 경제 및 외교 시스템에 정당성을 통합하여 플레이어가 전투 정당성을 물물교환하여 자원을 획득하거나 외교 관계를 강화할 수 있다. 또한 플레이어가 킹메이커로 활동할 수 있는 방법 역시 있다.

강제 상속은 플레이어가 전략적 또는 몰입적 목적으로 가족을 다른 파벌로 확장할 수 있는 방법이다. 이 행동은 또한 이집트와 히타이트 파벌 지도자들 사이에서 흔한 다른 파벌에 친척이 존재하는 것을 정당화한다.

3.1.3. 전투

치명률을 조정해 공격이 가해질때 마다 백분율의 확률를 추가하였다. 치명타에 타격당할시 유닛이 즉사하며 유닛의 갑옷 수치가 높을 경우 당할 확률을 줄일 수 있다.

궁수의 발사 궤적이 직사,곡사 중 선택이 가능해졌다.

유닛을 숲에서 숨기는 방식을 약간 변경하여 숲 밖으로 나갈때 유닛을 보는 방식이 현실적으로 되었다. 이제 숲 내부뿐만이 아니라 숲 뒤쪽까지 전부 보이지 않는 공간이 되어서 상대 유닛이 숨겨진다. 시가전에서도 건물 뒤로 시야가 전부 가려져서 외부에서 마을 내부의 적들이 보이지 않는다.

파탈워 본편에 없던 기병이 추가되었다. 아시리아와 인근 유목민 지역에서만 고용할 수 있다.

발칸반도에서는 토탈 워 사가: 트로이에 등장했던 인물들이 나오고 메인 세력으로 아가멤논이 플레이 가능하다. 아킬레우스, 오디세우스, 대 아이아스는 각각 아이올리스, 이타카, 보이오티아의 소규모 세력 지도자로 구현되었고, 이들로 소규모 세력 플레이에 포함되어 있다. 메넬라오스, 디오메데스는 각각 미케네, 보이오티아 세력이 사용할 수 있는 무장으로 등장한다.

트로이의 메인 세력은 프리아모스로 플레이가 가능하며 헥토르, 파리스, 아이네이아스를 장군으로 모집할 수가 있다. 그외에 레소스와 사르페돈은 각각 트라키아, 리키아의 지도자로 등장하며 멤논은 누비아에 위치한 이집트 소규모 세력인 나파타의 지도자로 등장한다.

아쉽게도 아마존 세력은 등장하지 않는다. 트사가 히폴리테 팩션 문양이 히타이트 소규모 세력인 킴메르족의 문양으로 등장한게 전부.

마이너 바다 민족들은 원본처럼 100턴에 대규모로 출몰해서 공격해오지 않고 140턴까지 조금씩 계속 나타난다. 또한 정착과 외교가 가능해졌다. 140턴 이후로는 새로 등장하지 않는다.

3.3. 캠페인 맵

기존 토탈 워: 파라오 캠페인 맵에서 아나톨리아 전체 영토와 발칸반도 일부, 메소포타미아까지 확대되었다.

진영이 트사가보다 엄청나게 많아진 만큼 초반에 장군 하나를 해안선 따라 정찰보내서 다른 문화권과 교역하는 것도 좋다. 예를 들어 이집트를 발견할 경우 이집트 세력들은 돌은 부족하고 식량만 많아서 돌을 팔고 식량을 받기에 적절하다.

3.5. 현지인 부대 시스템

과거 EB 모드와 롬2의 속주병 등과 비슷한 개념이다. 세력병종 이외에 지역에 따라 모집할 수 있는 현지인 병종이 있으며, 이들을 영역으로 구분하는데 각 10~12개의 병종을 가지고 있다.

발매 당시에는 8가지 로스터가 있으며 상이집트, 하이집트, 누비아, 서부 사막, 시나이-레체누, 펜쿠-얌하드, 저지대(루비아, 이스와), 고지대(카스카, 프리기아)로 구성되어있었다.
왕조 업데이트를 통해 마트-탐티, 마트-아수르, 자그로스(킴메르, 우라르투), 할탐티(엘람), 아베르 나흐라,아카이아, 앗수와, 트라키아가 추가되었다.

현지인 부대는 현지인 부대 모집건물이 따로 있으며 전차는 하이집트를 제외하면 주도 4티어 건물에서만 모집이 가능하다. 이들은 세력병종보다 훨씬 싸지만 모든 병종을 보유하지 못 하기에 완편 로스터를 꾸릴 수 없고 최고 등급은 4티어까지만 해당한다.
또한 현지 주된 날씨 및 지형[2]에 내성 내지는 버프를 받는 경우가 있어 모집하는 곳에서 가장 유용하지만 다른 지역에 조커로 작용하는 경우도 간혹 있다. 따라서 초반에는 현지병을 주로 쓰고 식량 수급이 어느 정도 안정화되면 세력병종을 주축으로 특화된 현지병 일부를 사용하는 것이 가장 좋다. 특히 진흙이나 사막 모래의 경우 중장갑 유닛일수록 페널티를 매우 크게 받는다.

또한 마이너 팩션은 세력병종이 없기 때문에 오로지 현지인 부대만 사용할 수 있다.

3.6. 전초기지

본작에서 가장 호평받는 시스템으로 영토에 정착지만 있는 것이 아니라 전초기지를 건설가능하다. 요새, 감시 초소, 시장, 교역소, 역참, 기념물, 신전 등이 있으며 단순히 지역내정에 버프를 주는 건이 아니라 정착지가 공격받을 때 지원하는 지원군을 요새에 주둔시킬 수 있고 군단이 전초기지에 방문하면 추가적인 버프를 받을 수 있다. 가령 교역소와 역참에 방문하면 이동범위가 증가하여 빠르게 캠페인 맵을 횡단할 수 있으며 감시초소에 방문하면 매복 방어 확률을 더욱 올라가서 매복을 잘 안당하게 해준다. 특히 신전의 경우 어느 신의 신전이냐에 따라 주는 버프가 다르다.

이집트의 경우 전초기지 자리에 기자 피라미드 등이 존재하며 이들에게 정통성과 세력전체 버프를 받을 수 있고 쿠푸왕의 유산으로 선택할 시 거대 건축물을 전초기지에 건설 가능하다.

기념물은 정통성으로 왕위에 오르고 왕좌를 굳히기 위해 필수적으로 여겨지며 교역소는 자원수급량을 늘려주며 방문한 대규모 병력의 유지비를 감소시켜줘서 항상 필수로 꼽힌다.

감시초소는 마을에 방어유닛 3카드를 추가해주며 요새는 유닛 10카드를 따로 갖다주는식으로 주둔시킬 수 있는데 바다 민족이나 외부 이민족들이 쳐들오는 지역에 필수적이다.

전작인 파라오는 출시 후 최대 동접자가 5400명을 기록했으나, 파라오 왕조의 경우 업데이트 첫날에 6000명을 넘어서면서 파라오 동접자를 넘어섰고 최대 동접자도 7900명대까지 늘어났다. 그러나 얼마 지나지 않아 구작들보다도 못한 1,000명도 안 되는 동접자를 기록하며 버그 픽스는커녕 업데이트도 사실상 중단되었고 정규 토탈 워 시리즈 중 최악의 실패작으로 남게 되었다.

Better Camera Mod: 토탈 워 시리즈의 인기 모드인 Better Camera Mod의 파라오 버전.
다양한 장군 바리에이션 모드(General Extra Variant): 기존의 부족했던 장군들의 모델을 다양하게 바꿔주는 모드. 다만 2d 일러쪽 업뎃이 느리다.
몰입형 유닛 리스킨(Immersive Unit Reskin): 토탈 워: 파라오 왕조에 등장한 병종의 비주얼을 다양하게 해주는 모드.
확장된 판테온: 28명의 신을 추가시켜주는 모드.
확장된 가계도(Expanded Family Trees): 바닐라 팩션의 가계도를 확장시켜 누락된 역사적 인물들을 추가시켜주는 모드.
아레스의 딸들(Daughters of Ares): 킴메르족 팩션을 토탈 워 사가: 트로이에 등장한 펜테실레이아가 이끄는 세력으로 교체하고 아마존 병종들을 추가시켜주는 모드. 위의 확장 가계도 모드가 요구된다. 영어 이외에 2개의 언어 모드(한국어, 스페인어)가 존재한다.
현지인 기수 및 부대장 추가.왕조 버전(Native Standard Bearer and Officer): 현지인 유닛에 기수병과 부대장을 추가시켜준다.
AGONY - Overhaul: 토탈 워 사가: 트로이의 Agony 모드 제작자가 만든 모드. 바닐라 버전보다 내정이 어려워진다.
COHORTROY Dynasties Unit Pack: 토탈 워 사가: 트로이에 존재했으나 삭제된 유닛을 포함해 총 222개의 유닛을 추가해주는 모드. 한글화 모드가 존재한다.#
커뮤니티 버그 픽스 모드: 파라오 왕조에 존재하는 46개의 버그에 대해 버그픽스를 제공하는 모드.
Make Character Unique: 플레이 가능한 소규모 세력 지도자및 몇몇 인물을 유니크하게 만들어주는 모드.
All Unique Character Immortal: 토탈 워: 파라오 왕조에 존재하는 모든 유니크 캐릭터들을 불사 버전으로 만들어준다.
Community Bug Fix Mod: 게임내 버그들을 고쳐주는 커뮤니티 버그 픽스. 다만 일부 상황에서 ai의 확장이 느려지는 등의 문제가 발생한다고 하니 유의.
Enforce Confedration: 토탈 워: 워해머 3의 카오스 진영처럼 같은 문화권일 때 마지막 정착지를 점령함으로 강제 연방을 할 수 있게 해주는 모드.

7. 기타

토탈 워: 파라오 예구시 주어졌던 신화 스킨들의 경우, 왕조에 기본적으로 포함되어 있다. 다만 새롭게 추가된 미케네, 트로이, 하니갈바트, 바빌론이나 바다 민족 군주들의 신화 스킨은 만들지 않았는지 아예 없다.

2024년 7월 왕조 출시초 버전 기준 치명타의 위력과 마이너 AI 팩션들의 강화가 눈에 띈다. 전차/기병/충격보병의 돌격이 순식간에 경장갑 유닛들을 쓸어버리고 궁수나 투석병들의 집단사격도 경장갑에 방패 방어율이 낮은 부대들은 치명타의 힘으로 순식간에 궤멸시킨다. 거의 토탈워 쇼군2 수준으로 죽창메타가 되었다는 말이 많다. 대신 중장갑+고효율 방패 유닛들은 치명타의 영향을 거의 받지 않으며 철벽처럼 버틴다.

파탈워 초기에는 마이너 팩션 AI들이 고티어 유닛은 잘 뽑지만 물량은 적은 편이었는데 파라오 왕조에선 호전적 마이너 팩션AI들은 물량을 엄청나게 뽑게 되어 메이저 AI 팩션 뺨칠 정도로 강하고 캠페인 후반에도 마이너 AI들이 메이저 상대로 잘 살아남는 모습을 보여준다. 함부로 전쟁 걸었다간 거꾸로 멸망 당할 정도이고 군사력 강한 마이너 둘이 손잡고 동시에 쳐들어오면 막기 불가능한 수준이므로 기존 토탈워와 다르게 외교에 더 신경써야 한다. 턴당 자원 교환협정으로 어그로를 줄일 수 있다.

주요 세력으로 이식된 미케네와 트로이를 뺀 플레이 가능 소규모 세력으로 등장한 트사가 세력들(사르페돈, 아킬레우스, 레소스, 아이아스, 멤논)의 경우 트사가 때 사용할 수 있던 병종들이 누락된 상태로 나온다.

트사가에서 플레이어블 세력인 헥토르, 파리스, 아이네이아스는 프리아모스 세력(트로이)의 장군으로 등장한다.
메넬라오스는 아가멤논 세력(미케네)의 장군으로 등장한다.
아킬레우스는 이올리아 세력의 지도자로 등장한다. 세력 문양은 트사가의 프티아 문양과 동일.
사르페돈은 리키아 세력의 지도자로 등장한다. 세력 문양은 트사가의 리키아 문양과 동일.
디오메데스는 아이아스 세력(보이오티아)의 장군이 등장하며, 메넬라오스도 아가멤논 세력(미케네)의 장군으로 나왔다.
멤논은 이집트 남부지역에서 시작한다. 세력명도 에피오피아에서 나파타로 변경되었다.
레소스는 트라키아 지역에서 시작하며, 세력명과 문양은 트사가와 동일하다.

2024년 9월 5일 토탈 워: 파라오의 비하인드 영상이 공개되었다.

2024년 9월 12일 패치 이후 패치와 버그 픽스가 이루어지지 않았는데, 2024년 11월 12일 CA 커뮤니티 매니저가 토탈 워: 파라오에 대한 어떤 소식이나 발표도 계획되어 있지 않다고 밝히면서 사후지원이 끝난 듯하다.#

튜토리얼 플레이의 경우 캠페인 맵이 왕조 캠페인 맵으로 변경된 점을 제외하면 달라진 점은 없다.

개발사 크리에이티브 어셈블리가 2024년 12월 23일 공개한 통계에 의하면 가장 많이 플레이한 군주는 람세스 3세, 가장 많이 승리한 군주는 왈웨테스, 가장 많은 킬수를 올린 유닛은 하이집트 궁병이라고 밝혔다. #
