윤은혜 · 김이지 · 심은진 · 간미연 · 이희진

2004년 3월 2일에 발매한 베이비복스의 정규 7집 앨범이다.

타이틀곡인 'Xcstasy'는 당시 힙합계에서 신적으로 추앙받던 2Pac이 사망하기 전 감옥에서 힘든 심경을 담았던 미공개곡을 샘플링, 대화를 주고 받는 식으로 가사를 붙인 곡이다.

해당 뮤직비디오에 약 몇십억이 넘는 금액이 투자되었다. 아마, 뮤비에 등장하는 스포츠카들 때문인 듯.

그동안의 베이비복스 컨셉과는 또 다른 힙합 컨셉을 전면에 내세우며 이미지 변신을 시도했다. 당시 대한항공 측에서 투자를 받고 미국 프로듀서가 참여를 하는 등 히트 요소도 충분했던 앨범이지만, 이 앨범을 마지막으로 베이비복스는 사실상 활동을 중단하게 된다.

가장 결정적인 이유는 이른바 이하늘 사건 때문으로, 이하늘은 이 샘플링 곡을 두고 자신이 출연하던 모 방송에서 '2Pac을 상업적으로 이용하는 일은 용납할 수 없다'는 취지로 약간 말을 험하게 하다가 논란이 되자 이후 주고 받는 과정에서 점점 더 말이 험악해져 도를 넘는 수준까지 갔고, 여기에 사실과 다른 저작권 루머까지 제기되면서 결국 베이비복스의 7집 활동은 반강제로 종료된다.

그리고 이런 우여곡절에 지쳤는지 심은진이 2004년 계약 만료로 탈퇴하고, 윤은혜도 2005년 팀을 나가면서 베이비복스는 2006년 2월 각자의 길을 선언하며 해체되었다. 이러한 논란에도 불구하고 당시 7집은 인기가요 TAKE 7에 드는 등 아예 망했다고 보긴 어려운 앨범이었기에 아쉬운 부분.

원래에는 6.5집으로 발표될 계획이었다고 한다. 그도 그럴 것이 정규앨범이라고 하기에는 신곡이 5곡 밖에 되지 않기 때문에, 정규앨범보다는 당시로써는 스페셜 앨범에 더 가깝다.

실물 음반을 상당히 급하게 제작한 것 같은데, DVD 케이스에 7집 음악들이 담겨있는 CD와 2Pac에 관한 DVD가 담겨져 있고, 부클릿은 Thanks to와 가사 그리고 앨범 커버에 있는 멤버들 사진을 재탕한 포스터 한 장이 끝이다.

이 앨범은 한국 7집이자 미국 데뷔 음반이기도 한데, 미국에서 정식 발매도 되었지만 제대로 된 활동이 무산되는 바람에 크게 성공하진 못했다.

2024년 9월 20일에 공개된 애플티비 다큐멘터리 웰컴 투 케이팝: 아이돌 이야기에서 DR뮤직의 대표인 윤등룡이 베이비복스의 그간 활동 스크랩들을 보여주며 자랑스러워다가 7집 'Xcstasy'에 쓰였던 투팍(2PAC)의 클리어 샘플링 자료를 글로벌 활동을 위해 직접 구매했었다며 그 샘플링 자료본을 아직까지 보유하고 있음을 알리며 스크랩북과 함께 자신의 책장에서 꺼내어 보여주는 장면이 나온다.

Xcstacy에서 심은진의 개인 파트가 하나도 없다. 다만 후렴구 단체 파트에서 리드하는 보컬이 심은진이며, 영어 버전에서도 마찬가지며 데모 버전에선 이 부분이 심은진의 단독 파트였다고 전해진다. 대신 컴백 무대때 심은진이 Floss P와 함께 미공개곡 Fire(Hot)로 단독 솔로 무대를 선보였다.

[1] 비애라고도 한다. 영화 돈 텔 파파의 OST인데 이 앨범에도 수록되었다.[2] 이는 베이비복스 앨범 중 가장 낮은 수치지만, 당시 음반 시장 자체가 힘을 잃어가던 시기였기 때문에 이러한 리스크들을 감안하고 보면 아예 못 나온 수준은 아니다. 예를 들어, 비슷한 시기에 나와 히트를 기록했던 쥬얼리의 니가 참 좋아 앨범이 이 앨범의 판매량과 비슷했다.
