1. 개요

홍콩의 구. 신계 서부에 속한다. 구의 상당 부분은 구룡반도 북부에 있으나 란타우 섬의 일부(서니베이역 및 홍콩 디즈니랜드)를 췬완구에 편입시켰다.

면적은 60.70㎢, 인구는 318,916명(2016년)이다.

2. 역사

영국령 홍콩 시절 이 지역은 1997년에 반환이 예정된 곳으로 영국 정부가 개발을 미뤘다. 그러나 중국에서 밀려드는 피난민을 받을 곳이 없어서 결국 1970년대에 개발을 하게 된다. 췬완선이 1982년, 즉 중영공동선언(1984년)이 체결되기 전부터 이미 도시철도가 들어왔다는 것이 그 증거. 1997년 홍콩 반환 이후에는 란타우섬 북부를 췬완구에 편입하였다.

3. 경제

홍콩 디즈니랜드가 있어서 돈은 겁나 잘 번다고 한다. 그러나 서니베이 신도시 개발 실패로 인해 췬완구의 경제력이 그렇게 뛰어난 편은 아니다.

4. 정치

민주파와 친중파가 원래부터 비슷했던 지역이다. 그러다가 2019년 홍콩 민주화 운동으로 인해 2019년 홍콩 구의회 선거에서 민주파한테 쏠렸다. 구의회 정원은 21석으로, 2석은 간선제 선출 이후 중국공산당 전국인민대표대회의 추인을 받는 임명직이다.

현재 민주파 7석, 친중파 4석(민선 2석, 임명직 2석), 중립 1석이다. 친중파는 홍콩공회연합회 1석, 신계사단연회+공공주택연맹(이중당적이다) 1석, 무소속 2석이다. 민주파는 민주당 1석, 췬완 커뮤니티 네트워크 1석, 무소속 4석이다.

홍콩 본토 지역에는 홍콩 지하철 서철선과 췬완선이 들어온다. 서철선은 췬완웨스트역이 있고, 췬완선은 타이워하우역과 췬완역이 있다.

6.1. 홍콩 디즈니랜드

원래라면 레이더우구에 100% 들어가야 할 란타우섬에서 일부를 췬완구에 편입시켰는데, 바로 홍콩 디즈니랜드 때문이다. 아시아에서 두 번째로 개장한 디즈니랜드(최초는 도쿄). 평가는 별로 좋지 않다. 우선 크기가 작다. 순수 놀이공원만 따졌을 때 가로세로 크기가 각각 500m가 안된다. 이 끝에서 저쪽 끝이 뻔히 보이는데, 미국의 디즈니랜드나 상하이 디즈니랜드를 가본 사람이라면 참 당혹 스러울 수준으로, 작다. 실내 시설인 롯데월드보다 작게 느껴지기 까지한다. 개장 이후 주욱 디즈니측의 예상 관광객 수를 밑도는 방문자수를 기록하고 있고, 방문자들의 경험담을 보아도 도쿄 디즈니랜드에 비해서도 많이 수준이 떨어지는데 값은 또 비싸고 무엇보다 홍콩 섬으로부터 소요시간이 너무 길다. 그런 이유로 상하이 디즈니랜드를 추진하고 있는 모양인데 이게 찬반양론이 많았지만 결국 2016년 개장했고, 이후는 당연한 수순으로 공기화가 급속히 진행중(...) 자체 전철이 있다. ~~에버랜드냐~~ ~~한국 과천시에 디즈니 안짓기를 잘했지~~

6.2. 서니베이

1997년 홍콩 반환 이후 홍콩 정부에서 추진하는 신도시인데... 2020년 지금까지 거의 개발이 진행되지 않았다. 원래라면 2005년에 개발이 완료되어 인구 20만 명 및 제2의 사이버포트 [2]가 되어야 했으나 중국계 부동산 기업들이 중국에 가까운 윈롱구나 북구 일대만 개발하면서 서니베이 일대를 개발하지 않기 때문이다. 2020년 현재 홍콩 정부에서도 사실상 손을 놓은 듯. 덕분에 서니베이역 MTR 공항선 승강장은 2020년 지금까지도 무정차 통과하고 있다. 뚱충선만 정차한다.

6.3. 타이모산(大帽山)

홍콩에서 가장 높은 산으로, 해발 957m이다. 홍콩에서 가장 산세도 험한 산이어서 등산객들이 많이 찾는다. 췬완선의 췬완역이나 동철선의 타이와이역(샤틴구)에서 버스를 타면 타이모산까지 갈 수 있다.

6.4. 마완(馬灣)

췬완구 본토에서 란타우섬으로 들어가는 길 중간에 있는 섬이다. 면적은 0.97㎢에 불과하다. 2000년대 들어서 신도시로 개발되어 있는데, MTR이 닿지 않는다. MTR 공항선과 뚱충선이 지나가기만 하고 정차는 하지 않는다.(...)
