1. 개요

벨벳 언더그라운드의 1집 The Velvet Underground & Nico의 마지막 11번째 트랙으로 수록된 곡이다.

2. 상세

루 리드의 대학 시절 스승이었던 시인 델모어 슈워츠 헌정곡이다. 그러나 정작 슈워츠는 록 음악의 가사를 매우 경멸했다고 한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 루 리드가 밝힌 헌정의 이유는 가사가 짧아서라고. 가사를 싫어한다고 하니 아예 가사를 거의 날려버린 것이다. 여담으로 슈워츠는 본 앨범이 발매된 3개월 뒤에 사망했다.

1분 시점에서 의자를 끄는 소리 후 쨍그랑하는 소리를 기점[1]으로 분위기가 완전히 달라지는 게 인상적인 곡이다. 1분 전에는 평범한 로큰롤 리프로 시작하지만 이 소리 이후로는 주 멜로디 없이 노이즈와 피드백 소리만 계속되는 연주가 이어진다.

독일의 크라우트 록밴드 캔의 데뷔곡 'Father Cannot Yell'에 영감을 준 곡이다.
