1. 개요

오크벨리 리조트는 강원특별자치도 원주시 지정면 월송3리에 위치한 종합리조트 이다.

본래는 한솔그룹이 운영하던 리조트였으나, 2019년에 HDC그룹이 한솔그룹의 지분을 인수하여 HDC그룹 산하로 바뀌었다.

한솔그룹의 흔적으로, 서원주IC 방면 삼거리에 한솔 종이박물관이 위치해있으며, 아직 곳곳에 한솔그룹 운영 시절의 로고[2]이 있다.

2. 리조트 시설

골프리조트인 밸리 빌리지와 스키리조트인 힐스 빌리지가 있다. [3]

하루에 8번 두 빌리지를 오가는 셔틀버스가 있다.

객실은 일반 객실과 노블 객실이 있는데, 일반 객실은 약간 올드한 인테리어이고, 노블 객실은 조금 더 비싸지만 리모델링 되어 모던한 인테리어를 가지고 있다는 차이가 있다.

2.1. 밸리 빌리지

자연과 하나되는 진정한 휴식

골프를 위한 리조트이다.

골프 코스는 2홀 규모의 연습코스와 9홀 규모의 오크, 메이플, 체리, 파인 코스가 있고, 18홀 규모의 IN·OUT코스[4]가 있다.

또한 18홀 규모의 성문안CC 또한 HDC의 소유이며, 리조트 입구 1분거리에 위치해있다.

스키를 위한 리조트이나, 여름에는 슬로프 아래에 있는 골프장을 운영한다.

정원이 7명인 패밀리 스위트룸이 있다.

2.3. 스키장

슬로프맵

오크밸리 특유의 지형과 설계의도를 살려 특화스키장으로 운영한다면, 여러 슬로프에서 경사 격차를 이용한 너클헉이나 슬로프 활강 중 작은 점프 등 런트릭을 즐기기 좋은 스키장이다.
산악분지 특성과 온난화 영향으로 일교차가 극심하므로, 밤에는 평창의 추위를 낮에는 서울도심온도를 경험하는 일이 많다.
용평홍천정선 등과 같이 물을 흘려 슬로프에 얼음을 얼리고 제설하지 않아, 눈이 깍이거나 일부 녹아도 빙판이 나오지는 않고, 설 즈음해서는 샤베트 단단 얼녹눈 정도로 스키어는 지장이 없으나, 보더는 제어가 어려운 야간 설질이 되곤 한다.
대인시즌권 구매자 본인의 초등학생 이하 자녀 1명에게 소인시즌권을 무료로 제공한다.[5]
리조트와 시즌방 거리가 멀어서 상주자들에게는 불편하다. 최근엔 콘도 시즌방을 운영중이라고 한다. 가격도 시즌권처럼 저렴한 편.
초급 슬로프가 매우 완만하기 때문에 스키를 처음 접하는 초보에게는 추천할 만 하다. 그러나 보드를 배우기에는 초급이라도 어느 정도 경사가 있는 것이 좋기 때문에 적합하지 않다.
초급 슬로프 경사가 완만하고 넓고 길기 때문에, 완전 처음 타보는 단체 관광객에게 인기다. 국내 뿐만 아니라 중국, 동남아에서도 많은 단체 관광객들이 몰려든다.
초급이 매우 완만한 것에 비해 바로 다음 중급단계부터는 다른 스키장 중상급 코스와 비슷한 경사를 보이는 구간이 많아 초보자들이 적응하기 힘들다.[6][7] 내가 이제 막 초급이 익숙해졌다고 판단되면, 다른 스키장(초중급, 중급)에서 수련하고 오크밸리를 다시 찾으면 만족도가 높을 것이다. 슬로프 안과 리프트 정상에는 화장실과 휴게실이 있으며 휴게실에서는 라면, 핫도그, 음료 등 다양한 음식도 팔고있다.
베이스가 한군데라서 주말의 경우 슬로프 하단이 혼잡하고[8] 초보자 슬로프의 경우 거의 평지수준의 경사로 인해, 스노우보드의 경우 한번 멈추면 앞으로 나갈 수 없는 구간이 있어 펭귄워크로 탈출하거나 프레스흔들기를 시전해야 한다. 16시 30분부터 18시까지 정설을 하고나면 야간타임이 시작되고 깔끔하게 정돈된 눈에서 타기 위해 사람들이 한꺼번에 리프트로 달려가는 진풍경을 볼수 있다.(축소 운영 최근년 1600~1730 정설)
A슬로프(중급)는 홈페이지에서 초,중,상급자 누구나 이용 가능한 슬로프라고 나와있지만, 실제로는 슬로프 하나에 초, 중, 상급의 경사가 모두 있어서, 초보자가 연습하기에는 매우 적합하지 않다.
D, F슬로프(중급)는 타스키장 중상급 이상이다.(비발디 기준으로 상급 슬로프인 펑키와 동등하거나 그 이상이다.) 상급인 B슬로프는 D와 큰 차이가 나지 않는 편이다.
G슬로프(중급)는 초보들이 가장 많이 올라오는 중급 슬로프이다. 상단은 적당히 완만한 편이나 하단으로 갈 수록 경사가 심해져 속도 제어가 안되는 초보자들의 직할강이 가장 많은 구간이기도 하다. 특히 초급과 직각으로 합류하기 때문에 위험한 장면이 많이 나타난다.
리프트가 총 3개[9] 뿐이어서 리프트 줄 역시 주말에는 엄청나게 밀리는 편이다.
슬로프 수 11면, 리프트 수 3기, 최장슬로프 길이는 1.6km이고 정상해발 430m이다.
2022 2023 2024년부터는 초보1, 초중급1, 중급1의 짧은 슬로프만 운영 중이며, 개장일은 주야 전일기준으로 60일 내외만 열고 있다.
전체 스키장 설계 기준(전체 슬로프 오픈, 리프트 가동, 타사 대비 운영일수) 20% 남짓한 개장으로 스키장이라기 보다는 스키연습장의 수준으로 운영 중이다.
매년 스키장 완전폐업 이야기가 있으며, 통상 10월 경 오픈공고 전까지 폐업인지 운영인지 알 수 없다.
최근년 중상급 이상의 메인이 열리지 않으므로, 오늘처음 초보낙엽과 서지 못하는 눈사태, 좀 타는 스키보더가 시즌 내내 짬뽕으로 섞여 타 스키장 대비 뒷빡옆충 등의 위험이 더 높아 보이므로 주의가 요구된다.

4. 교통편

서원주IC에서 차량으로 3분 거리에 위치해있고, 서울부터는 막히지만 않으면 1시간 내로 방문 가능하다.

원주에서 오크벨리를 오가는 셔틀버스가 있다. 자세한 일정은 이곳에서 확인할 수 있다.

~~사실 셔틀버스 말고도 57번 버스가 있으나 배차간격이 하루 3번이라 웬만하면 안 쓴다.~~
