1. 개요


미국의 래퍼 켄드릭 라마의 악곡으로, 6집 GNX의 7번 트랙으로 수록되었으며 리드 싱글로 발표되었다.

2. 상세

2024년 드레이크 - 켄드릭 라마 디스전 때 초대박이 터져버린 켄드릭 측의 막타곡 Not Like Us의 영향인지 디스전 이후 발매한 앨범 GNX에도 NLU와 같은 장르인 래칫 장르 악곡들이 여러 곡 등장했는데, 그 중에서도 특히 Not Like Us의 방향성을 가장 직접적으로 계승하는 곡이기도 하다. 프로듀서부터 DJ 머스타드인 것도 그렇고 GNX 안에서도 특히나 전투적인 가사도 그렇고.

GNX 안에서도 suqabble up, luther와 함께 가장 많은 인기를 얻고 있는 곡이기도 한데, NLU 계승 요소도 그렇고 무엇보다 후술할 밈(...) 때문에 컬트적인 인기를 구가하는 중이다.

힙합 악곡 리액션 유튜버들의 머스타드 샤라웃 파트와의 첫만남 모음집(...).

사실상 tv off를 명실상부 GNX 최고의 인기곡으로 급부상하게 만들어준 장본 구절이자 프로듀서를 향한 최고의 샤라웃.

비트 체인지와 함께 머스타드 시그니쳐 사운드(Mustard on the beat, hoe)가 나오자마자 갑자기 냅다 MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRDDDDDDD!!!!라고 사자후를 박아버리는(...) 이 구절이 상당히 임팩트가 강렬하여 곡을 처음 접한 수많은 리스너들이 제대로 열광했고 나올 때마다 똑같이 머스타드 샤라웃을 따라하면서 밈 생성에도 지대한 공헌을 했다.

밈으로 활용되는 데에는 크게 두 가지 방향으로 나뉘는데, 정리하자면

1. 진짜 머스타드 소스(...). 예시: 맥도날드 공식 트위터

미국의 식품 브랜드 하인즈는 거기서 더 나아가 무려 샤라웃 대상인 DJ 머스타드하고 직접 콜라보를 진행해서 실제 DJ 머스타드가 악세서리로 착용하고 다니는 골든 머스타드 병을 한정 판매하기에 이르렀다. 당연히 브금 역시 머스타드 샤라웃 파트를 사용. 심지어 이 영상, 공개 시기부터 골때리는 것이 각종 기업들과 셀럽들이 신나게 밈 써제끼는 와중에도, 무려 데드풀과 울버린 콜라보로 마케팅의 귀재로 불리던 하인즈가 이상하리만치 잠잠했는데 하인즈는 이들과 달리 더 큰 그림을 그리고 있었고 그 큰 그림이라는 것이 무려 켄드릭이 5관왕을 달성했던 제67회 그래미 어워드 중간 광고에서 처음으로 공개하는 것이었다(...).
