스팀에서는 복합적으로 시작했다. 부정적인 이유를 뽑아보면:

미완성 캠페인: 아무리 아노의 꽃이 샌드박스라지만 똥싸다 끊긴 것마냥 라티움 시작, 알비온 한 번 찍어먹으면 제대로 된 결말도, 엔딩도 없이 그냥 샌드박스 모드로 넘어가 버린다.
생성형 인공지능을 사용한 일러스트들: 사용한 것 같다는 논란이 아니라 본인들이 사용했다고 그냥 인정했기에 그에 따른 논란들이다.

아노 117 자체의 평가로 보자면 대체로 다음과 같다.

긍정적인 요소
로마 전성기 시대적 상황을 잘 표현했다. 수로, 콜로세움 등의 로마하면 떠오르는 건축문화를 수려하게 잘 표현했다.
2. 아노 1404 때 괴상한 육상전, 아노 1800 때 해상전만 있었던 것과 달리 사실상 시리즈 최초로 제대로 된 육상전이 구현되었다.
3. 알비온에서 순수 켈트와 켈트-로마 혼합 문화등으로 보다 다양한 심시티 트리를 시도해볼 수 있다.
4. 선박 커스터마이징 기능이 추가되어 갤리들을 취향것 세팅할 수 있다.

부정적인 요소
시대상을 고려하더라도 전반적으로 아노 1800보다 테크가 올라갔을 때 게임적 변화가 적다.
2. 게임 시스템 자체는 아노 1800과 크게 달라보이지 않는다.
3. UI 기능 일부가 퇴보되었다.
4. 전작에 비해 BGM이 다소 아쉽다는 평가가 있다.
5. 기존 팬들에게 있어서 컨텐츠가 부족한 편. 물론 DLC가 아직 안 나왔다는 것을 감안해야한다.
복합적인 요소
PC적 요소가 들어가 있다. 여성에 대한 황제 계승권이라던가 흑인 백인대장 등 최근 어쌔신 크리드에서 논란을 일으켰던 요소들이 몇가지 있다. 단, 게임의 플레이에 있어서 영향을 거의 끼치지 않는 터라 신경쓰지 않아도 된다.

게임의 부정적인 요소를 종합적으로 보면 전작이 워낙 명작인터라 비교당하는 경향이 강하며, 개발사에서 수정해줄 여지가 있는 요소들인만큼 게임 자체는 아노 시리즈에 걸맞는 퀄리티로 나왔다고 봐도 무방하다.

타이틀 연도인 117년은 트라야누스-하드리아누스 대제를 거친 로마 최대 판도를 자랑하는 전성기이다. 단, 아노 시리즈가 늘 그랬듯 연도 숫자는 총합 9를 맞추기 위한 구실에 가깝고 캠페인은 완전히 픽션이다.
본편 시리즈중 최초로 부제가 붙는 작품이다.[3]
독일 연방경제기후보호부에서 2019년부터 독일 게임 산업의 발전을 촉진하기 위해 만든 연방게임기금의 자금 지원을 받는 게임이다. # ## 2023년부터 2년간 약 570만 유로를 지원받으며, 한화로 약 90억에 해당한다. #
골드 에디션의 DLC 예고에서 피라미드가 확인되면서 1년차 DLC에서는 아이깁투스 속주를 다루는 것이 확정되었다.
유비소프트가 2024년 4월 30일부로 한국 지사를 철수함에 따라, 본작의 한국 출시 및 현지화는 사이드코리아 주식회사가 맡게 된 것으로 보인다. #
