'7 Things'는 마일리 사이러스의 정규 2집 Breakout의 리드 싱글로, 2008년 6월 17일 발매되었다.2. 상세
'7 Things'는 '네가 가진 일곱 가지 싫은 점들(Seven Things I Hate About You)'이라는 의미다. 마일리 사이러스는 정규 1집인 Meet Miley Cyrus의 콘서트였던 'Best of Both Worlds Tour'를 다니면서 노래를 썼다. 남자친구에게 화가 많이 난 상태에서 가사를 만들었고, 그래서 이 노래를 듣고 남자친구도 짜증이 났으면 했다고 밝혔다.원래 버전은 조금 더 부드러웠는데, 노래를 녹음하던 그녀가 더 강한 사운드를 원해서 고쳤다고 한다.
노래 공개 직후부터 노래의 대상이 그녀의 전 남자친구 닉 조나스라는 소문이 돌았다. 두 사람은 같은 디즈니 아이돌로서 미국 10대로부터 엄청난 인기를 얻고 있었고, 2006년부터 교제를 시작했다가 2007년 헤어졌다. 처음에는 두 사람 모두 '7 Things'가 자기들 이야기라는 사실을 부인했는데, 2009년 마일리가 결국 닉 조나스 얘기가 맞음을 인정했다. 이후 닉 조나스도 자기 얘기가 맞다고 밝혔다.
