1. 개요

Welcome to Kent School

켄트 스쿨은 미국 코네티컷 주 켄트[1]에 위치한 명문 사립 기숙 고등학교다.

2. 역사

1906년 실 신부(Rev. Frederick Herbert Sill[2])가 '가정 환경이 좋지 않은 젊은이들이 최고의 교육을 받을 수 있는' 학교를 만들기 위해 설립했다. 대부분의 미 보딩스쿨들이 부유한 엘리트들의 자녀들을 위해 설립된 것과 대조되는 부분. 설립 후 반 세기 동안 남학교로 운영하다가, 1960년 스키프 마운틴(Skiff Mountain)에 여학생 전용 캠퍼스를 만들었고, 1992년 본 캠퍼스로 통합했다. 고로 지금은 남녀공학 기숙학교.

현재 교장은 1969년 졸업생인 쉘 신부(Rev. Richardson W. Schell '69).
