2007년 풀 체인지된 CBR125R JC39형 모델.

이전 세대와 가장 큰 차이점이라면 캬브레터에서 인젝션 방식으로 바뀐 것이다. 이에 따라 무게와 연비가 소폭 증가하였다. 또한 호박등이었던 방향지시등이 클리어 타입으로 변경되었다.

또한 앞 형상이 1세대 CBR1000RR을 닮은 것이 특징이다. 심지어 헤드라이트는 호환까지 된다.

한국에는 2010년에만 한 번 판매되었다. [1]

2011년 풀 체인지된 CBR125R JC50형 모델.

이전 세대와 가장 큰 차이점은 외관의 페이스리프트이다. 특히 이전 모델은 작은 차체와 얇은 타이어 때문에 멸치라고 놀림을 받았었는데 그 덕에 약간의 벌크업이 이루어졌다. 일단 리어 타이어 단면폭만 30mm가 증가했다. 프론트 타이어는 단면폭이 100mm로 기존 모델의 리어 타이어와 단면폭의 크기가 같다는 점에서 타이어 사이즈가 많이 커졌다는 걸 알 수 있다. 또한 연료 탱크의 용량 증가와 페어링 형상의 변화, 휠 형상의 변화 등등 많은 부분이 변경되었다. 그리고 기존 아날로그 속도계에서 디지털 속도계로 변경되었으며 여러 부분에서 현대화, 고급화가 이루어졌다.

2015년식에는 은색 차대에 랩솔 카울을 씌운 스페셜 버전을 판매했었다.

이 모델부터는 단종될 때까지 부품의 변경은 없으며 연식에 따른 페어링 데칼이나 도장 디자인만 살짝씩 달라진다.

125cc 수입 스포츠 바이크의 베스트 셀러.

많은 사람들이 매뉴얼 오토바이의 입문용으로 타는 기종 중 하나다. 국산인 코멧 125R이 유지비나 신차 가격에서는 메리트가 제법 있지만, 그 메리트보다 단점이 더 크다. 입문용으로 타기에는 타이트한 포지션, 무거운 차체, 부족한 브레이크 성능, 내구성 문제 등 여러 이유로 CBR 125R를 선호하는 사람이 더 많다.

일단 CBR 125R이 베스트 셀러가 된 이유가 있다. 의외로 125cc 레플리카에서 F 포지션을 가진 차가 잘 없다. 야마하의 YZF R125, 아프릴리아의 RS4 125, KTM의 RC 125, 스즈키의 GSX-R125 전부 핸들 높이가 시트 높이와 거의 같은 R 포지션이다. 이런 저배기량 오토바이는 일상적인 주행이 대부분이라 자세가 편한 바이크가 잘 팔릴 수밖에 없다. 그리고 가격인데 400만원 초반인 CBR에 비해, 아프릴리아 RS4는 무려 699만원, RS 125 레플리카는 무려 750만원이다. 쿼터급 스포츠 바이크를 구입할 수 있는 가격이라 굳이 그 돈을 주고 125cc 오토바이를 살 이유가 없다.[2] 그런 이유로 적당한 가격에 좋은 성능을 가진 CBR 125R에 눈길이 갈 수밖에 없다.

기술의 혼다답게 내구성이 훌륭하다. 24시간 내구레이스도 충분히 버티는 터프한 내구성을 가진 머신이다.

단지 덩치가 큰 라이더는 영 힘들다는 것이 단점. 키는 170~177cm 정도의 신장이 베스트. 이상으로 키가 영 크거나 작으면 힘들다. 또한 덩치가 큰 사람들은 상당히 힘들다.

구형 모델은 타이어와 차체가 굉장히 얇아서 멸치+cbr=멸츅이라는 별명으로 불리기도 한다. 2011년식 모델부터는 페이스리프트를 통해 얇고 빈약해 보이던 외관이 많이 개선되었다. 보통 신츅으로 부르는 편.

첫 출시되었던 2004년식부터 단종된 시점인 2018년식까지 프레임(뒷 차대 제외) 및 엔진 블록이 한번도 변경된 적 없다. 엔진의 출력 또한 똑같다.

2018년식을 마지막으로 한국에서 단종. 현재는 무뚝무판 고딩들이 끌고 다니거나, 원돌이 연습용 등으로 주로 쓰인다.
