- SM엔터테인먼트의 분기별 활동 계획 등을 통해 3분기에 정규 5집으로 컴백한다는 일정이 일찌감치 공개된 편이며 이 앨범으로 NCT 127은 3년 연속 가을에 정규 앨범으로 컴백하게 되었다.
- 발매 9개월 전인 2023년 1월부터 제목을 스포했다. 2023년 7월 16일 개최된 데뷔 7주년 기념 팬미팅 ONCE UPON A 7ULY에서도 가을에 정규 앨범으로 컴백 예정임이 언급되었으며, 이날 태용이 퇴장 인사를 하면서 "저희는 불가사리가 되어서 돌아올게요"라고 말했기 때문에 불가사리 전승 등의 컨셉이 진지하게 궁예되었으나 '불가사의'를 의도한 것임이 밝혀졌다. # 이후 NEO CITY - THE UNITY의 굿즈로 불가사리 키링이 등장하는 등 불가사리 이미지를 적극적으로 활용하고 있다.
- 2023년 8월 15일 새벽, 태일이 오토바이를 타고 귀가하던 중 교통사고를 당해 오른쪽 허벅지 골절 진단을 받아 수술이 필요하다는 소견을 받으면서 이로 인해 당분간 모든 스케줄을 중단하고 치료와 회복에 전념할 예정이다. # 녹음은 이미 끝내 놓았으나, 재활에만 최소 6개월 정도 소요되기 때문에 해당 앨범 활동은 태일을 제외한 8인 체제로 활동했다.
