일본에서 출전된 와세이칸지로 확인되었으며, 모을 집 (集)의 관련자라고 알려져 있는데, 설명에 의하면 과거 일본에서는 九(아홉 구)가 모을 집 (集)과 동일하게 취급되어 이를 3개씩 묶어 뜻을 더 강조하기 위해 만들어진 한자라고 한다.
