1. 개요

다다리오(D’Addario)는 이탈리아계 다다리오 가문이 설립하고 현재까지 운영 중인 미국의 세계적인 악기 소모품 및 악세사리 제조 기업이다. 1974년 존 다다리오(John D’Addario)가 회사를 설립했으며, 기타와 현악기용 스트링(String)을 중심으로 성장해 드럼, 관악기, 케이블, 튜너, 마우스피스 등 다양한 악기 관련 제품을 생산하고 있다.

3.1. 나일론 기타줄

전반적으로 줄의 개성이 없이 클래식 기타의 울림을 그대로 전달하는 스타일이다. 모든 악기 줄이 처음 장착 후 장력에 의해 늘어나며 튜닝이 안정화 되는 과정을 거치는데, 다른 나일론 줄이 3~4일 내에 안정화 되는 데 반해 다다리오는 내구성이 강한 대신 이 과정이 열흘 이상이 소모된다. 그만큼 수명이 긴 편이라 아마추어들이 많이 쓰는 브랜드 중 하나다.

3.2. 스틸 기타줄

엘릭서가 폴리머 코팅현으로 유명하다면 다다리오는 금속 화합물 기반의 코팅현으로 유명하다. 주로 주석(EXP)이나 인청동(XS) 코팅을 하여 부식을 방지하며, 엘릭서에 비하면 수명이 짧은 편이고 연주 후 현을 살살 닦아서 수분과 유분 처리를 해줘야 한다는 단점이 있지만, 금속 화합물을 사용해 코팅했기 때문에 현 본래의 톤을 변질시키지 않는다. 그만큼 기타의 성향을 그대로 반영하기 때문에 고가 기타로 갈 수록 높은 성능을 발휘한다.
